Camp Buddy

Summer camp can be an amazing experience for children of all ages, but children facing health challenges can sometimes struggle with frustrations around medication needs, food requirements and more. Children with diabetes are no exception.

Camp Buddy graphicCamp Buddy, a camp designed for diabetic children ages 6–12 diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes, offers a wonderful summer camp environment alongside help with learning to independently manage their diabetes among peers and dedicated professionals.

Camp Buddy is about fostering independence, providing support and encouraging the development of friendships that will last a lifetime.

This camp is medically supervised, with fun activities including arts and crafts, swimming, outdoor recreation and evening programming. Our on-site medical team is present throughout the entire duration of the camp, attending to the health of campers and providing blood sugar checks, diabetes management and continuing education throughout the day.

How you can help

At Prisma Health Children’s Hospital, we understand the benefit that camps provide to our patients and their families. Medically supervised camps provide a safe environment for our patients to have fun, feel valued, and connect and bond with other children with similar health conditions. Camp programming is 100% philanthropically funded. The on-site medical teams for each camp including physicians, nurses, therapists and others are provided by Children’s Hospital.
